Cassie/Sparki finding Omega, a Sonic OC story

Somewhere in the middle of a humid amount of nowhereness...

"How long until we stop, Shadow?"
"We will take a break once we have hit 3:00, as I have already stated about 5 times, Cassie."
"I can't help it! It feels like we've been looking for hours upon end! XP"
"It has only been 10 minutes since we have arrived..."
"See what I mean!? I think the humidity's getting to me..."

My 'mentor' so to put it, Shadow, only sighed as we kept moving through the damp dirt/muddy ground. I'm guessing you readers are probably wondering what's going on (while I'm sweating bullets) and who we are, right?
To put it in a way, right now you are talking to Cassie, the next 'supposed' descendant of Shadows rival: Sonic the Hedgehog, fur color, eyes and all. How I found out you ask? Well, to put into a short explanation:
1:it Involved me accidentally releasing this moody guy over here (Shadow: ) and Eggman in a weird base I found,
2: finding a necklace and a pair of shoes in a box in my attic,
and 3: having weird, reoccurring dreams that connect to the first two instances.
I'm still trying to fix the mess and stop the chaos that Eggman as since started up, but even with the necklaces help, I'm still a rookie at this hero thing...(seriously, how the heck did my ancestor handle this saving the world task so easily? Even he had natural talent in not crashing into walls or robots! XP Erm, back to the topic..)

As for what's going on right now, here's the info: Earlier this morning, Shadow had sensed a weird, but supposedly familiar aura around this far off 'land', so he had hauled me out of bed early (Nuuuu! T.T) and we chaos controlled around to this tropical forest that's in the middle of nowhere. Gee whizz, the humidity's still killing me XP.

We walked a bit more through the forest while following a trickling little river, but when we got to a 3-way-fork in it, Shadow stopped...and following up to bump into him was yours truly. He didn't even turn around as he started giving orders.

"We will split up here. You go to the left while I go to the right, and we will meet back here and report what we find in thirty minutes.. Is that clear?"
I sighed, both from relief in having a chance to go my own path, and also from the humidity itself making me a little sleepy, "Alright."
From there, we went our temporarily separate ways. Well, with of this nice bounty of nature all around me, despite the heat waves fanning onto me, what could possibly go wrong?

I jinx myself too much, don't I? I think so, or I wouldn't be currently lost in this endless jungle.
"Ok, he said that the 'thing' or weird aura was around...man, I wish we knew where it exactly is, or how to go back to the starting point..."
Excuse my mumbling, I do that when I'm tired XP Now if only I wasn't so focused on mumbling so much...

Not even a minute passed when this happened...

Thunk!
"WOAAHHH!!"
Thud!
"Oww..."
First I trip and find a button to release my teacher and ancestors enemy, now I trip over a supposedly HUGE piece of mossy pile of metal-?! Wait,METAL??
I turned a full 180 after getting up to find myself face to face with strangely structured metal pile.
"Wha- oh crap..."
What I saw was small spaces of metal...and what I DIDNT see was a turn on switch...
At least, not till I started hearing a buzzing sound coming from it.

Creaaaaak....

"GAH!!" I sped to the closest tree trunk I could find as I watched the creaky sounding 'metal pile' unfold before my eyes. (I can't help it, the noise scared the crazy gadgets out of me!!!)
The long, cylinder shaped parts of the pile raised to be two pairs of metallic arms, with one oddly formed cube shaped shoulder having the Omega symbol on it, turning to start standing. Next, its weird black boxes behind it stood to reveal legs, then the main part of the dark and golden colored pile lifted to reveal its gigantic torso and small head. If it wasn't for the moss on the back of it, the dirt on its front, and a few cracks in a couple of places, I would've said that it looked brand new....
.....or unused.

I knew I was in BIG trouble; waking up something like this in the middle of nowhere would be a sure sign of it.

The moss covered, red, silver, yellow, and black robot suddenly shadowed over my form as it spoke, its gleaming yellow dots of eyes piercing through my eyes, possibly through my soul if it tried hard. I felt my whole body tingle, frozen in place with his appearance before me.

"UNKNOWN...TARGET: STATE...IDENTIFICATION"

There goes my mind...

'Ok, big robot with Shadows color scheme comes from behind and-WOAH! NOT THE ARM CANNON!!'

As stated, the big robot started prodding me with an arm cannon that came out of nowhere, but all it did was make me more nervous and unable to communicate.

"U-Um, I-I uh-"

"STATE IDENTIFICATION, UNKNOWN TARGET"

'Wait, is he a secret part of Eggmans army?

Did Eggman...or someone else plant him here?

...is he lost? Wait, that's too obvious. Of course he's lost and confused! Now stop being a dumb-dumb and say something!!'

"Eh heh heh, um, I'm not here to harm, sir, erm...robot. I am trying to find something with, um, my 'teacher'."

'That was the dumbest introduction you had ever half-mindedly said, Cassie! Get it together or he could blow your brains out!!'

The robot looked deep within my eyes again, his arm cannon not moving an inch. I kept hearing a whirring sound as my thought processed circled my head. Could he be recording what I said?
"NAME OF TEACHER: IDENTIFICATION NECESSARY" It computed back to me.
For some reason, I felt more confused then scared right then, as I didn't think any of Eggman's current robots ask for something like identification...but would it still be safe to ask? Well, might as well risk it. I did it with the first question, right? Now, lets just hope he doesn't fry me with that cannon of his...*gulp*.

"His name is Shadow....Sh-Shadow the Hedgehog?"

I started to brace myself for a fight, stance at ready and my necklace gleaming in the sunlight. However, the mystery robot did the unexpected: Instead of blowing me to smithereens with arm cannon, he (at least it sounds like a 'he') deactivated it and scooped me up into his arms, then tucked me underneath like the biggest top secret file in the world.
"NEW MISSION SET: LOCATE SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG, MISSION COMPLETE WHEN ALLY IS FOUND"

"W-wait, Huh?!"

I blinked once, twice, and once more, eyes widening at each movement. 'Did I just hear what he just said?! Is he-wait, do I smell rocket booster fuel??'
I look down. I couldn't exactly tell where the rockets were from how he was holding me, but I DID see we were getting farther and FARTHER from the ground.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I hated heights??

Well, in cases like this, it calls for my extreme emergency plan.

"AAAHHHHH!!! SHADOOOW!!!"

Will I ever get use to these sort of zany occurrences??

In all of the time I was trying to wiggle my way out of his arms, which was REALLY dumb of me because we were about 100 FT off the ground, he kept flying through the skies to apparently find Shadow. After a while and after seeing that it was no use escaping his grip on me, I tried to ask him questions, albeit calmly and non shakily.

"How the heck do you know Shadow? And how did you live for this long while buried?"

"FORMER OBJECTIVE: STATE IDENTIFICATION"

I pouted a bit. He wasn't going to give up on me, was he?

Ok, I give up.

"My name is Cassie the Hedgehog, apparent 500 year descendant of Sonic the Hedgehog...its a long story."

"STATE OF ALLEGIANCE"

"Against Eggman? Or someone else?"

Nothing but buzzing. There he goes collecting my words again!

"If you mean Egghead, then I fight against him."

"STATE OF ALLIANCE WITH SHADOW?"

Aw geez, here it goes...

"Um, I accidentally released him a few months ago from some sort of time capsule built by Eggman, aaaand is my apparent mentor in defeating Egghead in this timeline."

"DATA OF ALLIANCE STORED"

Well that was easy....I think I'm getting use to him...ish. But now he's made me curious...

"Anyway big guy, how do you know Shadow?"

He paused, going on buzzing and whirring again before coming up with an answer.

"SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG: APPROXIMATE ALLY, ALONG WITH GUN AGENT ROUGE. BURIAL: NOT COMPUTABLE."

"Rouge? Never heard of her. Were she and Shadow close, too?"

"STATEMENT OF ALLY CLASSIFIED BY REQUEST"

"Darn!" Looks like I'll have to wait till later to learn more about Shadow. But in the meantime....

"Say, do you remember how you got in the forest or why you were shut off?"

"NEGATIVE."

Well that led to another dead end...XP the robot made me really curious if Eggman was involved with him in the past, but right now I couldn't note him on that...at least, for now. We were too close to where Shadow said to meet up to ask anymore questions.

His jet engines puttered quite a bit as we cleared for landing, and teetered a little when he put his huge, robotic feet on the ground again. I didn't care. I was just glad that we were back on solid earth and not flying like the birds!

"Cassie, are you here?"

'Shadow! Man, has 30 minutes passed already?' The robots head turned up to see my "mentors" silhouette coming out of the bushes, promptly dropping me (Owww XP) as he focused his sights on him.

Shadow looked up....and his expression was priceless. All the robot do was stare back, but I could've sworn I saw a glimmer in both of their eyes.

"...Omega..."

The glimmer picked up quite a bit in the weird robots eyes, and it also started spewing out its, um, speak again.

"ALLY SHADOW....IT IS ASTOUNDING TO SEE YOU AGAIN. MY TIME CALIBRATOR CANNOT ESTIMATE ON HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN BEFORE THE SPECIMEN CASSIE HAS TURNED ON MY LIFE BATTERY."

Wait, I'm not a specimen! I'm a hedgehog! XP I wonder if Shadow had problems like this before he and apparently this guy came here...

Shadow did nothing but grimace a little when i-Omega mentioned anything to do with time. Closing his eyes, he took a breath before he answered.

"It has been 500 years, Omega..."

How he said it froze my form to the ground. Instead of sounding annoyed or angry all the time, like he does when I'm around or something annoys him to no end, his tone of voice sounded...calmer? More peaceful? Something around that range.

His eyes deemed to make him look surprised at what Shadow told him.

"IMPLAUSIBLE. CHARGER COULD HAVE DEPLETED MANY YEARS BEFORE."

"No...Tails made sure we switched out your battery with one he just made so you would last a lot longer...damaged or not."

Now MY own eyes widened. A battery that lasts over 500 years?? That would be impossible...but if Laurels ancestor was involved...then-

'SNAP.'

The whole conversation was cut short when we heard a snap of a twig.

Shadow narrowed his eyes again.

"Cassie."

"On it!"

In no time, I sped to the nearest hideaway spot and clasped my necklace. It glowed quickly, and once it faded, I knew I wasn't just Cassie anymore.

I was Sparki...my masquerading spirit of speed and lightning.

Feeling calmer then I was when we arrived, I zipped back to Shadow and the now named Omega to find them in a battle with, you guessed it, Eggheads robot troops.

The egg shaped genius was watching from the background, his tools of destruction trying to shred the two to pieces. Though, from what I saw, he did NOT expect Omega coming into the front lines.

"YOU?! I THOUGHT I DEACTIVATED YOU YEARS AGO?!"

Heh heh heh, his expression was definitely a highlight! XD

I watched him blast away HOARDS of them with one single shot of his cannon, and blew others to billions with the secret ammunition in his arms and legs.

I gotta say, he definitely has quite a bit of power despite being as old as Shadow...

speaking of him, said mentor managed to come up to the front and was busy slicing his own robots with his chaos powers, teleporting to them at record breaking speeds only to squash his opponents.

They seemed to be winning quite a bit-oh wait, IS THAT A MAGNET!?

I have got to stop guessing the right answers, because now I saw that Omega was now pinned to that giant thing like monster glue.

"OMEGA!" Shadow growled as he fought to get closer to Eggman, but more and more beat him back and eventually snatched his chaos emerald away from him. He still kept fighting, but was too far away to get to Omega.

My own growls sounded my thoughts as Eggman let out his villainous laugh.

"It seems that you are growing soft and weary, Shadow. Your friend even proves it!"

Que my own anger intensifying at his words. 'How DARE he?! Sure he can be annoying and kinda harsh sometimes, but he's NOT weak! And NEITHER is Omega!!'

Omega struggled to moved his cannon, but his arm wouldn't move an inch from the blasted magnet.

"YOU WILL BE STOPPED, DR. ROBOTNIK. WHEN FREED, WE WILL OBLITERATE YOU."

His statement caused the Egg to have a more raucous laugh. Man I hate him!!

"It does not look like it! Personally, I should have made you into scrap metal years ago, but maybe now I could...REPROGRAM YOU to fight your dear FRIEND!"

If his previous words didn't make my anger boil, this certainly did. Even if I don't know him much, he shouldn't be used as a stupid TOY!

In one breath, I sped behind the magnet Omega was being held at....

and this happens:

"BANZAIIII!"

BAM!

ZOOM!

CRASH!

More of his robots were short-circuited as I knocked into each one, and the cord that used the magnet was sliced clean. I could just imagine Eggmans anger at his raid being foiled again.

"YOU!"

Now that Omega was freed and Shadow was back with him, I joined the two with a small smirk.

"MY MISSION WILL NOT BE COMPLETED IF YOU ARE NOT TAKEN OUT."

"And what's the matter? Forgot about the little blue pest? Well that's a shocker, Egghead!"

I swear steam was coming out of his ears from our comments.

"EGGBOTS 2.0! GET THEM!!

Well, here we go again!

After we fought more and more hoards of Eggbots (which were a piece of cake with our combinations and Omegas saves), Egghead finally was forced to retreat...but not before Shadow destroyed the arm that had his emerald. Thank goodness that was over, it was starting to tire me out....
Omega looked pretty unfazed, though I thought I heard him mutter something about his Obliterating Eggman plan failing. Oh well...

Shadow walked up to him from behind and looked up to him.

"It was good to see you fighting with us, Omega...just like old times."

"AFFIRMATIVE...YOUR SUBJECT, CASSIE, WAS GREATLY AN ASSET WITH HER HIGH STATUSES OF POWER."

GAH!! I'm not a sub-! wait...did he just complement me on my fighting?? O-oh my gosh...
That's the first praise I got from fighting...ever...

"She still has a long way to go, though."

Aww, you just ruined the moment! XP though...its true. I'm still a rookie through and through.

"Omega, would you be able to return with us to try and help fight against Eggman in the city?"

My ears perked up at the mention of 'help' and 'city'. Oh my gosh, he could be LOADS of help in fighting the robots! We could do all sorts of combination strategies, hang out,  and-

"NEGATIVE. NEW DATA INQUIRES THAT NEW POWER SOURCE WILL LEAK QUICKLY IF I AM IN THE CITY. I MUST REMAIN BEHIND."

And there goes the moment being ruined again...XP

Shadow did not seem to like it either, but nodded in understanding.

"IF YOU OR SUBJECT CASSIE NEED MULTIPLE BACK UPS, I WILL COME"

Well, at least we know he'll still keep fighting...

"All right. I wish you luck out here, Omega."

"AFFIRMATIVE....AND TO YOU AND CASSIE AS WELL"

Oh for-!! He didn't use 'Subject'!! Maybe that fight with Eggman left an impression?

Omega then shuffled to me, his glassy eyes staring down mine again.

"SHADOW IS AN INCREDIBLE LEADER AND TEACHER. RAISE YOUR HEARING TO HIM WHEN NEED BE. AFFIRMATIVE?"

No fear showed this time (though I kind of expected to say that, but oh well) and in return, I nodded. "Affirmative."
He nodded back, and from there, we parted ways again.
Time and time again after that day, I find myself back in my attic, looking through photo albums. I know that most of my life was all a blur before the my parents fatal crash....but one thing I would not forget was the friends I had made.

And even though it was rocky at first, meeting Omega was definitely one memory that I would never forget.
